Need ideas on what to do in Regina this November?
Pass the Hat
An event regularly held by the Exchange, Pass the Hat is a special night of stand-up comedy that provides equal fun for the comedians and the audience. Not only is it Regina’s longest-running stand-up comedy event, but it also focuses on putting local comedians in the spotlight.
This month’s Pass the Hat is happening on Friday, Nov 8 and costs only $10 in advance or $15 at the door. The doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the show starts after 8 p.m.. Fun fact: Pass the Hat is free during your birthday month! A good laugh could be an awesome pre- or post-birthday gift to yourself, or for that friend who wants “nothing” for their birthday!
Megan Nash and Billie Zizi at the Artesian
Coming to the ever-charming Artesian on Nov 15 are two-time Saskatchewan Music Award winner Megan Nash and Edmonton-based Billie Zizi. Having just released her third studio album in October, Levitate, Zizi brings a wild spirit, enchanting vocals, and a psychedelic echo to prairie folk rock.
Nash has released three albums since 2015 and has been nominated for the Western Canadian Music Awards and a JUNO. Making up the perfect musical co-bill alongside Zizi, she brings blends of her rich, smooth vocals and emotive guitar to the stage.
This show is taking place at the Artesian where doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.. Tickets are $20 in advance on the Artesian website or in person at Paper Umbrella, or $27 at the door on the night of the show. Those interested in purchasing tickets have until 5:00 p.m. the day of the show to purchase advance tickets.

On Friday, Nov 15, the Lazy Owl will host Carmichael Comedy Night, an evening showcasing Canadian comedians Dan Duvall and Myles Morrison. The event’s namesake is Carmichael Outreach, a Regina charity that began over thirty years ago to raise funds and advocate for those who experience poverty and homelessness. They also run various programs and services out of their location on 11th Avenue, including a clothing boutique, food security, housing, and child programs.
This event is 19+, and ticket prices are as follows: $35 each, $135 for a table of four, or $260 for a table of eight. This is a chance for attendees to contribute to a great cause while enjoying a good time. For more information, visit Carmichael Outreach’s Fundraisers webpage.
Shop with the Village – Regina Winter Edition
Build A Village is a non-profit organization in Regina that aims to provide support for families in the area facing financial instability. They put on regular programming and fundraisers for these families.
Their upcoming event, Shop with the Village – Regina Winter Edition, is happening on Nov 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Eastview Community Centre. As a trade show, the event will feature a wide selection of vendors, door prizes, and kids’ activities. Admission is free. This could be a great way to support a local non-profit and get out in the city.
Good Lovelies at Darke Hall
As a part of the Darke Hall Presents series, Canadian folk trio and JUNO-award-winning group Good Lovelies will be visiting Regina’s Darke Hall on Tuesday, Nov 19, to serenade the place and share music from their discography, which consists of nine albums in fifteen years.
Together, Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough, and Sue Passmore make up Good Lovelies. They will be stopping in Queen City to share their captivating harmonies as a part of their “We Will Never Be the Same” Canadian Tour across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Opening up the show will be folk, rock, and blues musician Mia Kelly from Quebec. Her second studio album, To Be Clear, was released at the beginning of October.
Ticket information can be found on either the Artesian or Darke Hall website. For all those folk, rock, and blues fans, check it out!
Bushwakker Writer’s Corner
Presented by the Saskatchewan Writer’s Guild and held at Bushwakker Brewpub is the 7th instalment of their Writer’s Corner series. Here, local authors can get under the spotlight and share their work.
At 3 p.m. on Nov 23, local author Shane Arbuthnott will host a handful of his peers: Courtney Bates-Hardy, Jes Battis, Jesse Rae Archibald-Barber, K. D. Kulpa, and Kofoworola Odunjo. These featured artists have published work that you can check out beforehand, some even with the University of Regina Press.
Also advertised with this event is a special Bushwakker dessert inspired by writers: Caramel Pear Crumble Cake Cheesecake. For anyone interested in giving that a taste test, celebrating local writer talent, or both, get out to Bushwakker on Nov 23.
Regina’s Bookwyrm’s Book Fair
On Nov 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at HMCS Queen at 100 Navy Way, the Regina Bookwyrm’s Book Fair will take place. With local vendors like the University of Regina Press, Saskatchewan Publishers Inc., Bella Books, Cold Blue Press, and more, the organizers of this event invite you to “relive your scholastic book fair days.”
Not only will readers have the opportunity to enjoy a book sale and add to their shelves, but they can also meet with authors like Christina Van Starkenburg, who organized the event, Marie Powell, and Charlene Neigum. As said in Starkenburg’s Facebook post, “From fantasy to children’s books, middle grade fiction, non-fiction, speculative fiction, horror, paranormal tales, mysteries, and so much more – there’s something for every book lover!”
For another way to get out and about: bundle up just enough for the fall prairie weather and take a walk around Wascana Lake (safely) with some friends! See if any ducks or geese have stuck around this long!
