The Board of Directors for The Carillon Newspaper Inc. is responsible for ensuring that the non-profit side of our publication adheres to all requirements and that staff at the Carillon are held accountable for their membership of registered students. All directors are current students who meet to discuss matters of governance for the students’ newspaper, financial management of the organization, and membership engagement efforts, and they serve as the HR committee for staff as well as the hiring committee for applicants.

There is at least one meeting of the Board of Directors each month which all students are welcome to attend, and the schedule for these meetings as well as access to the Zoom link for virtual access can be found on the Upcoming Events + Meetings page on our website. The schedule will be updated no later than seven days before the beginning of the fall, winter, and spring/summer semesters, and notice will be posted on that page no less than seven days before a scheduled meeting should there be a change to the schedule.

At the moment we have three empty seats on our board reserved for students-at-large, and any registered student is eligible to show interest in one of these director positions. Following are the steps involved according to our constitution when a student expresses interest in becoming a director:

Should a student member desire to show interest in becoming a director but they are unavailable to attend any of the remaining meetings scheduled in a semester, they should contact the Chair to request that a special meeting of directors be scheduled. Student membership must receive no less than seven days of notice for additional meetings of this style; this notice will be given through the Upcoming Events + Meetings page, and the meeting may also be promoted on our social media accounts (X @the_carillon, Bluesky @carillonregina.bsky.social).
