Samia
Board Chair
I grew up in Canda as a young immigrant from the Global South and learned to integrate my language, culture, and moral practices within the Western context. I am an alumna of the University of Regina, I dedicate the last decade to being an employee at one of the UofR federated colleges, and I am currently a continuing student at the University. I have learned with my fellow students, served the student body, and have returned to learning more from a new generation of students. My advocacy for minority voices and decolonization and reconciliation work across the Indigenous and settler cultures in Regina provide me with the strength and motivation to champion the Board of the Carillon to support and serve the students. Working collaboratively with the students’ voices at the table, the Carillon will be able to achieve a resilient and revolutionary tomorrow at the UofR.
Andrew
Board of Director
Hi there, my name is Andrew Keniuk, and I am a third year Software Systems Development student at the University of Regina. I came to Canada from Ukraine 12 years ago, and since then have been working non-stop to support the Ukrainian-Canadian community in Regina. I am the current president of the Ukrainian National Youth Federation, a non-profit organization which hosts events to both promote Ukrainian culture in Canada, and support the local Regina community. I want to serve the Carillon Board as I feel like I have great experience in past non-profits, and really want to get involved in more of that University community. I believe the Carillon is extremely important as a source of reliable, local information and I would love to be a part of the board and help with making it even better. Thank you!
Kevinya
Board of Director
My name is Kevinya Gunawardena, a second-year Marketing student who somehow ended up deeply involved in campus life and now refuses to leave. I juggle being the Vice President of Events and Logistics for Rotaract, a University Ambassador, and a former Hill Marketing Association member; which basically means I’m very familiar with chaos, deadlines, and making things work even when they shouldn’t. I’ve also worked at Levasto Education and LB Finance, so I know how to communicate, stay organized, and look calm while my brain is sprinting. I’m running for the Carillon Board because I want our campus newspaper to feel lively, relatable, and actually fun to read. I’m running for the Carillon Board because I want our campus newspaper to feel lively, relatable, and actually fun to read. If you want someone who brings ideas, energy, and is responsible, organized, and funny enough to make meetings feel less like meetings, I’d love your vote!
Sena
Board of Director
My name is Sena Mekonen and I am a third year Accounting student at the University of Regina. I have been involved in community work through organizations like UNICEF and Plan Canada where I supported donation drives and fundraising events. These experiences helped me build communication and outreach skills while staying active in causes that matter to me. I am interested in joining the Carillon Board because I believe student media plays an important role in shaping campus life and giving students a place to express their ideas. I would appreciate your vote and the opportunity to contribute to a strong and open student run publication.
Bukunmi
Board of Director
My name is Fatimehin Oluwabukunmi Esther, a Health Studies and Kinesiology student passionate about global health, mental wellness, and youth advocacy. I currently serve as Vice-President of the Global Medical Brigade Club at the University of Regina, a Youth Advisory Council member with the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation (SCIC), and a Youth Health Champion with Black Donors Save Lives. I am also a Mental Health Ambassador and a member of the Project Team with Enactus Regina. My work focuses on amplifying student voices, promoting equity, and building supportive, informed communities. I am running for the Carillon Board to help strengthen student representation and contribute to meaningful storytelling on campus.
Jane
Board of Director
My name is Jeme Jane Ogun, and I am a third-year Economics student exploring paths toward a future role as a data analyst. I am passionate about making a positive impact by solving problems and supporting those around me. Through my involvement in the Rotary Club and as a University of Regina Ambassador, I have developed skills in leadership, problem-solving, strategic planning, service, and community engagement. I have seen firsthand how students’ concerns can go unheard, and I want to make sure the Carillon amplifies every student voice. I hope to contribute ideas that increase engagement and ensure the Carillon remains a platform where creativity, inclusion, and diverse perspectives thrive. I am committed to transparency, fairness, and putting students’ best interests at the center of every decision.
