Come writers and critics, who prophesize with your pen // and keep your eyes wide, the chance won’t come again // and don’t speak too soon, for the wheel’s still in spin // and there’s no tellin’, who that it’s namin’ // for the loser now, will be later to win // For the times they are a-changin'”

Welcome all to volume 68 of the Carillon!

Summer is over and it is still hard to believe how quickly time flew by. It may have passed in the blink of an eye, but summer 2025 was hardly uneventful for the University of Regina. Lawsuits came to conclusions, lease agreements were terminated, new food spots opened up and that is barely scratching the surface. The Carillon stayed with you through it all and we are stoked to be stepping into the fall semester. Contributions are very important for the Carillon and if you’ve got some spare time and are looking to contribute, we would love to have you. Below, you’ll find issue 4’s pitch list, which is a list of potential story ideas that writers and contributors can cover. I’ve done my best to outline important dates below, but if you have any questions, reach out.

The Carillon’s team for volume 68 has Emma McGill as the community editor, Zinia Jaswal as the news editor, Hana Grace as the staff writer, Eric Stachowich and Nazeemah Noorally as news writers, Merica Weslowski as the web tech, and Annika Hadden as the production coordinator as returning members. Hannah Scott will be joining the team as a new member and will be filling the role of the oped editor, and Lee Lim, who will be joining us as the community writer, is a former employee making a comeback! Additionally, we have Arufha Malek and Joshua Potter joining the team for volume 68 as sessional writers.

Our next open ed-board meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, September 23 at 1 pm at 227 Riddell Centre. Your participation in the open ed-board meetings is of great importance to us and you might even get free food! We hope you can make some time to attend.

Volume 68, issue 4 will be running from Thursday, September 18 until Tuesday, September 30, and will be published on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Contributors for this issue should have their pieces confirmed with editors by Monday, September 22, but as editors, nothing makes us happier than finding a contributor’s email in our inbox, so reach out anytime!

Finished pieces must be filed with their respective section editors by 5pm on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Any need for extensions must be communicated as soon as possible.

To reach the pitch list for a section, click the section title. As always, editors are thrilled to have novel, creative story pitches from contributors, so if you have a pitch that hasn’t been listed, reach out.

Until next time. Illegitimi non carborundum
